LGBTQ Rights

Get up and Give OUT this Tuesday!

Give OUT Day is a national fundraising event on Tuesday, August 2nd for nonprofits serving LGBTQ communities all over the country. These organizations help secure the rights, meet the needs, and celebrate the lives of LGBTQ people!

The LGBTQ Advocacy work at WWAV interests with other systemic issues we see in New Orleans, including racial and gender discrimination, mass incarceration, predatory policing, and barriers to healthcare. To combat these issues, we do community outreach on domestic violence prevention, refer clients to safe and appropriate healthcare services, and educate the community about HIV, STIs, and safe sex practices.

WWAV also creates a monthly space for Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, same gender loving and Transgender people living in the U.S. South, called B.L.A.C.  Members of BLAC work together around the social justice and structural health issues most impacting our lives. We talk about our experiences, build community, and develop our capacity to advocate for issues of importance to our community.

Help support our LGBTQ programming by donating to WWAV this Give OUT Day!
